Self-care for Service Designers
(and friends)
An online reflective retreat
Are you constantly setting standards and expectations and then judging yourself too harshly when the outcomes are not as expected?
The more we engage in self-reflection and inner growth, the better we become as designers.
What is this retreat?
Over 4 one-hour sessions, I will support a small group of 4-6 people to understand what our collective needs are and how to start putting those into practice.
This retreat is:
A reflective practice
Some time to acknowledge the feelings and emotions that come with being a designer
A supported practice to understand the hard part of our jobs
A space to explore ideas for better self-care together
An opportunity to co-design for our needs
What will you get from attending this retreat?
By the end of the four sessions I hope you will:
Feel supported and acknowledged
Have a renewed sense of togetherness
Have some answers; and some questions to reflect on
Understand what you need next

Why is this important?
I’ve been working in service design for 12 years and as a changemaker and influencer for over 20 years. I understand how demanding this work can be. Our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being all contribute to our design abilities. This work is important, so let's make sure we're lighter, energised and motivated to keep going.
Helping people gives me joy.
I want to create a space for people to reflect on their work and the reason they became designers or changemakers. I think there are lots of communities but none that hold space for people to reflect on the feelings of being the person that is the force for change. I want to create reflection, community, camaraderie and support.
As a result of this prototype there are two things I’m considering:
I want to collect data and pilot a programme that I can potentially offer to organisations.
I want to consider a free small monthly club or community where people support each other to do the inner work.
